The Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta played host to an exhibition boxing match between famous YouTube vlogger Jake Paul and former Bellator Fighting Championship and ONE Championship welterweight champion Ben Askren on April 17.
The 36-year-old Askren, a former UFC star, mixed martial artist, and amateur wrestler, failed in his first attempt to enter the world of boxing. It was evident, however, that Askren was ill-prepared for the match as he entered the ring overweight.
A hard right hook by Paul knocked Askren out a few moments before the end of the first round to make the veteran fighter pay. Despite being able to pick himself up after the knockdown, the referee stopped the fight to avoid any serious injury to Askren.
Many boxing fans have called the fight a circus but, for his victory, Paul still brought home a $690,000 purse while Ben received $500,000.

The 23-year-old YouTuber began his career and gained popularity in video platform Vine. He now runs a successful YouTube channel with over 20 million subscribers.
Paul improved his boxing record to 3-0 with three knockouts after similarly defeating YouTuber AnEsonGib and ex-NBA player Nate Robinson both in 2020.
