Following the unfortunate first leg loss of 1-3 to Real Madrid, many expected a comeback from the Reds. A 0-0 draw in the second leg, however, ousted the English squad from the UEFA Champions League.
Liverpool, winners of the 2019 Champions League, had good scoring chances in the first half but were not able to conert. In the second half, they began to give up with the task of scoring at least two goals to advance to the next round seemingly out of reach.
The Spanish football club, on the other hand, advance to the Champions League semifinal for a record 14th time when they face another English squad in London-based Chelsea.
The two teams have previously faced each other in three official matches and two friendly tournaments. The first leg of the semifinal will take place in Madrid while the second leg will be at the home turf of the English club.
