World ParaVolley and NPC Germany stated that the World ParaVolley Men’s Paralympic Qualifier would be taken in Duisburg, Germany, from 15 to 19 February 2021.
“In total, seven teams were selected. Teams’ level is pretty the same, and all of the teams are close to each other in the world ranking. This tournament was supposed to be held in March 2020 in the USA, but due to the COVID-19, the tournament was canceled at the last moment. A year later, this tournament is planned in Germany. At the competition in Duisburg, the final license for the Tokyo Paralympic Games will be awarded,” – said Secretary-general of Kazakhstan sitting volleyball federation Batyr Kadyrbaiuly.
The qualified teams may enter from Canada, Croatia, Germany, Kazakhstan, Latvia, the United States, and Ukraine. All these are the teams that formally joined the postponed Men’s Paralympic Qualifying tournament in Edmond (Oklahoma, USA) from March 15-20.
The tournament champion gets the spot into the main final tournament in Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Already qualified teams are the host team from Japan, 2018 World Championship title-holder Iran and runners-up Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the teams, qualified by regional zones: teams Brazil, China, Egypt, and Russia.
