Islamabad United beat Karachi Kings by 5 wickets

Defending champions Islamabad United registered a five-wicket victory against Karachi Kings in their Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2019 fixture at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Kings — being sent in to bat first — had a positive start to their innings with Babar Azam and Liam Livingstone scoring 78 runs for the second wicket. Babar top-scored with 68 off 50 with the help of 10 boundaries while Livingstone chipped in with his 56-run knock courtesy of five fours and four maximums.

After their partnership came to an end, the Kings kept losing wickets at regular interval and the side finished at 168-8 in their 20 overs.

Rumman Raees was the pick of the bowlers for Islamabad as he finished with the figures of 3-27 in his four overs.

In their chase of 169-run target set, Islamabad were 47-3 at one stage thanks to early wickets by Umer Khan. However, Phil Salt and Asif Ali put on a 97-run partnership to take the game away from the Kings.

Salt made 46 off 38 deliveries with six boundaries to his name. Asif Ali played a match-winning knock of 70 from 38 balls which included five boundaries and six maximums.
